HOMESLICE, Covent Garden

HOMESLICE

Homeslice is located in Neal's Yard, Covent Garden, a very cute and colourful street, with various small stores and nearby theatres as well.

The shop itself is not so big but it adds to the experience. When we arrived there was a 20 minute wait, however, they took our number down, we then explored the ditzy area in the meantime and they promptly called us when our table was ready. The store is always jammed packed which is understandable as the pizza is soooo yummy :P The layout of the restaurant is very cosy, there are wooden bench-style seating - and often you're sharing a table with others. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an intimate date or lunch etc.

Menu is displayed on a chalk board on the wall (very cool!) and you are given the choice of either £4 per slice or £20 for a huge pizza to share between 2-3 people. You are also given the option to make your pizza half and half. There is usually two vegetarian options and the menu changes every few weeks too I believe.

HUGEEE Half & Half Pizza £20
Moving on to the pizza...

Homeslice is possibly the best pizza I've ever had. I'm usually quite boring with my pizza preferences most of the time, always opting for the classic margherita (cheese and tomato).

Me and my friends opted for the half and half pizza and chose the two veggie options that were available. Half margherita and the other half aubergine and goats cheese (which I understand sounds a bit weird) but it was actually really nice! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The pizza is packed with lots of flavours. You can really taste every flavour.. mmm. It tastes very authentic probably because it's cooked in a stone oven (pictured below).

The pizza is quite sloppy which is why a lot of people refer to it as the ultimate 'pizza pie' which is quite accurate! Sloppy but not in a bad way. Olive oil and water and glasses already on the table which is very handy!

Stone Oven

The pizza is huge in size if I haven't mentioned already. Much larger than average. Probably a very large lunch for two or a normal lunch for three. I shared the pizza between three and was stuffed! They give paper plates to eat the pizza which sounds a bit off putting but its adds to the casual pizza experience. Their drinks list is very simple with a variety of soft drinks e.g. coke and lemonade.

Also, the staff when I visited very friendly! They made conversation willingly and were very attentive. She made us feel welcome and we were given a warm goodbye.

Cute Location!

I will definitely return, only criticism is there should be more vegetarian options! A lovely experience and a REALLY nice location to go with it!

I would give them a 9/10!

LOADED BURGERS, Ilford

LOADED BURGERS, located in the heart of Ilford on Cranbrook road. The restaurant is conveniently a one minute walk away from Ilford Station and the Exchange shopping mall - so location is ideal. The restaurant offers gourmet burgers and chips with a selection of chicken, lamb and beef patties, fish as well actually! It also offers a variety of rib dishes. They offer a vast array of tasty mocktails too!

Full meal total - £15.80 for one

During my visit to the restaurant, I ordered a classic lamb burger, with cheesy gourmet chips, a portion of cheesy nachos! and a strawberry mojito. My first impressions were wow! :D The burger was really pleasant and so were those two complimentary onions that come with it. Although it was huge and I had to roll up my sleeves to dig in! The 'classic' burger was filled with cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce, tomato and the loaded burger sauce. It tasted very 'classic' and was well cooked. The burger itself was not extraordinary with flavours out of this world - but a very nice classic, nice- tasting burger that will fulfil all  your burgerly needs.. lol

The chips were home-cut chips with the skin and covered in what seemed like cheddar cheese. I was not a fan of the cheese as it created a layer of cheese and didn't really stick to the chips, weirdly enough. The chips weren't my favourite as I prefer fries but they do offer fries now so problem solved!

Cheesy Nachos £3.50

The cheesy nachos were divine however, some of the best I have ever tasted. It was a mix of tortilla chips with salsa sauce, cheese and jalapeƱos. It was really nicely mixed and the salsa and cheese really sunk into the tortilla chips which made them extra yummy! It was quite a large portion, so you could share between two if I'm honest! Quite decently priced as well might I add!

Strawberry and Lime Mojito £3.95
The drinks were really nice too! I slurrrrrped mine up a bit too quick, before my food arrived which is always a problem! They are an array of mocktails, the strawberry mojito, original mojito, daiquiri are some that I remember at the top of my head, and all similarly priced. The syrup round the edges was a nice edge that a lot of halal places forget :)

'Classic Burger' (Lamb) £6.45
The overall arrangement and presentation was very nice! The tin cans for the chips and nachos are very unique. The tray the meal was given on was a nice too, made a mess on it by the end, hehe.  The decor is quite quirky too, the jean collage type seating was cool! The tin chairs were edgy though probably not the comfiest thing to sit on. The staff were friendly as well.

OVERALL... a good experience! and a 7/10!
